Hi there! My name is Bethany Odom and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who loves people. I received my undergraduate degree from Angelo State University in Interdisciplinary Studies, taught elementary for 10 years, high school for 1 (with coaching included), and then moved into School Counseling. I have received a Master’s in Education for School Counseling and have a Clinical Mental Health Certificate. Both came from Lamar University.
When sitting with my clients, I like to use an Adlerian approach, but have experience with CBT, Tapping, and Solution focused therapeutic techniques. For the last 4 years, I have been counseling in a church setting and will use Biblical counsel if requested. My hope for clients is that they will feel welcomed, cared for, and can leave me when they’re ready with the skills to be productive contributors in their homes and society. Everyone has a purpose and a place in this world.
I have leadership certification entitled “Dare to Lead,” and it is from a training created by Brene Brown. One of my mentors is Dr. James Sulliman who created the Sulliman Scale of Social Interest, and he has aided and guided me in skills and knowledge as a counselor with his nearly 50 year experience in the counseling field.
